Get Rid of Hip Pain Once and for All!
Hip pain can be due to an endless list of reasons, or perhaps due to another problem elsewhere in the body. There are many structures around the hip, which can present as pain in the area, and problems in the back, hip, ankle and foot can all present as hip pain. People that are at high risk of hip problems are those that stretch their hip joint excessively and repetitively such as gymnastic athletes, ballet dancers and hurdlers.
Hip pain can be diagnosed by X-Ray, ultrasound, CT scan, MRI scan, bone scan or DEXA scan and your consultant will decide which investigations are necessary according to your symptoms. Rheumatology Physician Dr Rees, recommends rehabilitation with a Physiotherapist for hip pain, as well as education on how to manage or prevent symptoms. However it may be that a hip arthroscopy (key hole surgery) is required to diagnose and treat the problem.
The picture above shows an example of a hip strengthening exercise. Click here to see a description of the exercise and click here to see a video. Your physiotherapist will be able to advise on number of repetitions.
