Is your child ‘toe-walking’?

Toe-walking refers to a condition where a person walks on his or her toes without putting much weight on the heel or any other part of the foot. Toe-walking in toddlers is common and children usually adopt a normal walking pattern as they grow older. If your child is toe walking it could simply be a tight calf muscle but it can also be more serious. It could be early signs of Cerebral Palsy or other developmental conditions such as Autism.

We completely understand that this can be a concern for mothers. If you do have concerns our team of specialist Paediatric Physiotherapists are here to help. We can assess and provide advice and exercises to improve the quality of your child’s walking pattern.
