Specific back exercise programmes can be set for you by one of our physiotherapists whether this is :

  • your first episode of back pain
  • you suffer recurring episodes of back pain
  • you are suffering constant back pain
  • you are suffering chronic (long term) back pain

With back pain, stabilising muscles around the back can switch off and as a result of not moving as much because of the pain you can become stiff. Back exercises help to switch back on any stabilising muscles as well as strengthen surrounding muscles and restore movement to the back and rest of the body. The exercises can help prevent future episodes of back pain and reduce pain already present.

Physiotherapists can also advise on which sports you can paticipate in and advise ways of adapting sports to help lessen and prevent back pain.
