Have you had or going to have plastic surgery? – try Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage to enhance the results!!
Research has proven that manual lymphatic drainage massage is recommended for both pre and post plastic surgery for the following procedures:
- Breast surgery
- Eyelid surgery
- Tummy tuck
- Forehead, brow or chin lift
After surgery it is common to discomfort, swelling and bruising. These symptoms are due to the surgery having an impact on the lymph vessels which are situated alongside blood vessels throughout the body and the flow of lymph within them will be affected which can lead to reduced healing, scar tissue, dimpled and uneven skin. To restore the flow of lymph the manual drainage massage is recommended to return the normal look and feel of skin and stop any swelling or hardness or lumps of tissue below the skin.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) is NOT the same as any other massage
It requires someone specifically trained in where the lymphatic system lies in the body and how it works. Other massage particularly if deep will do the reverse and stop the flow of the lymph fluid making things worse. The technique is extremely light and some feel that the massage cannot be working but it has been proven that these light techniques are what are required to remove the lymph fluid stuck in the tissue and into your blood circulatory system. The techniques will be carried out around the lymph system as shown in the diagram to enhance fluid flow everywhere rather than just directly on the area you have had surgery.
How often is MLD recommended?
A session before surgery is recommended and then at least 2-3 sessions per week up to one month following surgery (6-12 sessions). More sessions can be carried out if requested.
